Vision Statement

Vision Statement

The overall vision is to establish a long-lasting community of competitive gamers.
-
  • Players are aimed at the long-term mastery of the game. Mastery is not based on winning or losing, but in how one plays the game. One can win ugly, and lose while playing extremely well. Mastery does not mean that one is the very best, but means that one has great knowledge and skill. Mastery takes time, lots of time, years. The popular idea of these days is that it takes 10,000 hours of performing a skill to become a master.  That's a lot of time in a cockpit.
-
  • Steel Jaguar is a welcoming and positive atmosphere. It is one where people want to stay long-term, and to develop quality friendships that exist both inside and outside of the game. Steel Jaguar should be a unit that people do not want to leave once they are in.
-
  • Players are encouraged to live fulfilling lives in and out of the game. Steel Jaguar should not be a place people go to escape from normal life, but should be part of an overall fulfilling life. Thus, the team will not demand more than a member can reasonably give.  If a player can no longer meet the obligations set forth by the competitive division, he or she will always be welcome in Steel Jaguar's reserve division, and welcome to continue practicing with the team when space is available.
-
  • Steel Jaguar will be playing in various games, while focusing on MechWarrior: Online, and plans to have a presence in other games that members can play together. However, it is acceptable for Steel Jaguar players to join other groups in games we do not have a division for, so long as the player continues to fulfill his/her obligations to Steel Jaguar Gaming.
-
  • Each member is respected, and considered to be an important member of the team. There will be people who have leadership responsibilities, but all players will be recognized as individuals and their opinions will be heard and considered.
-
  • Ranks and promotions will not be handouts or based on favoritism.  All ranks and promotions come with responsibility, and only the members who demonstrate themselves the most capable and willing to fulfill the necessary responsibilities will receive officer positions.
-
  • We will remain flexible to meet the needs of individuals, however, no individual is more important than the team.  Thus, we will not accommodate for an individual at the expense of harming the team except in cases of disability or emergency.
