Headphones
« on: February 28, 2017, 08:11:20 PM »
My headset just went up so I'm looking to pick up something new. Modest budget that would like to stay under $100 but will go as high as 150 if it's a really good deal. I really hate the separate mic / headphone situation but I've been informed that mic combo headsets sucks, so looking for opinions and sales.

I'm sure Fission will have something super fancy for you but I've been using this headset for the past decade and have been very happy with it. On my third set right now, one naturally died after about 5 years having been through Afghanistan and Iraq, I sat on another one and broke it's ear off, and this one is going strong. Just an option. It's sold most places like BestBuy and Walmart.

I'm so sorry I didn't see this.  Let me know if you're still in the market and I'd be happy to give some other options to consider

Yeah Fission, I am still in the market. Keeping my eyes open for deals and making due with a webcam mic.

Hey buddy,

You cannot go wrong with: Sennheiser HD 598

https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490977672&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser

My current headset for a little more extra $$$ is: Sennheiser GAME ONE
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-GAME-ONE-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00KK8ZLEC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1490977755&sr=8-2&keywords=Sennheiser+game

Lots of amazing reviews for the above headsets. Top quality and none of the gimmicky bs like 7.1 and such. The mic's on the Sennheiser's are amazing as well.

GL!

A great option right now

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491606278&sr=8-1&keywords=ad700x

open design (wider soundstage but you hear a lot of ambient noise) - good for sound location in game (footsteps etc) - however this set is very bass light [ https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491606460&sr=8-1&keywords=fiio+10k add this amp later and you can prob handle the bass problem if you want to do so - it also add more clarity]

i find that particular boom mic more clear than that blue yetti

Also a quick thing to add to File's recommendation, as the 598 Cs are amazing - but if you want more soundstage and positional audio detection(at the cost of bass and in room sound isolation) the 598 open version is also worth a look - I think they're similar to the game ones he suggested but without the mic
